Designed by Sigurd Lewerentz for Stockholm's Skogskyrkogården, the Chapel of Resurrection represents a masterful synthesis of classical and modern architectural principles. Completed in 1925 after years of on-site experimentation, this austere yet sublime building features a distinctive long, narrow, and tall profile with subtle asymmetries that create architectural tension. The interior showcases precious Carrara marble flooring intended to provide beauty and comfort during difficult times, while the entrance hall supported by twelve columns leads visitors through a carefully orchestrated spatial sequence toward contemplation and renewal.
