Negozio Olivetti
Venice, Italy
1957~1958
This showroom exemplifies Scarpa's spatial manipulation of a challenging site. The architect removed existing partitions, reorganized circulation around a centrally positioned marble staircase, and introduced two lateral mezzanines. The material palette combines Aurisina marble, rosewood display platforms, African teak, and Belgian black marble for the pool containing Viani's sculpture. The floor features a mosaic of colored glass tesserae that defines functional zones: red at the entrance, white-gray in the central area, blue in the lateral access, and yellow at the rear. The facade integrates the Olivetti logo into the architecture, blurring boundaries between corporate identity and spatial experience.
