时思寺始建于南宋绍兴十年（1140），明洪武元年（1368）刘基题额"时思道场"，明宣德元年（1426）改院为寺。其建筑格局历经宋、元、明、清各代，保留了宋元时期木构建筑的鲜明特征，如大殿的重檐歇山顶和减柱造等手法。整体建筑风格既有宋代遗风，又融合了福建地方建筑特色，是研究浙南古代建筑、宗教和宗族文化的重要实例。
